Ingredients and Quantities for 20 Liters of Handy Andy:

  1. Water: 13 liters (13,000 ml)
  2. Kulu 10 (thickening agent): 3 kg (3,000 grams)
  3. SLES 25% (Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate): 2 liters (2,000 ml)
  4. L31 (cleaning agent): 2 liters (2,000 ml)

Equipment Needed:

  • A clean 20-liter mixing container
  • Heavy-duty stirring rod or an industrial mixer
  • Accurate measuring tools (graduated containers, scale for Kulu 10)
  • Protective gear: gloves, goggles, apron, and mask

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Add Water

  1. Measure 13 liters of water and pour it into the mixing container.
  2. Use room-temperature water (around 25°C) to assist in mixing and dissolving subsequent ingredients.
  3. Important: Ensure the container is clean and free from contaminants.
  4. Stir gently to create a smooth base and minimize air bubbles.

Step 2: Add Kulu 10

  1. Weigh 3 kg of Kulu 10 using a precise scale.
  2. Gradually add Kulu 10 into the water while stirring continuously.
  3. Observation: Kulu 10 will start to thicken the water. Ensure you stir thoroughly to dissolve all lumps and create a smooth mixture.
  4. Stir for 10–15 minutes or until the mixture has an even, viscous texture.

Step 3: Add SLES 25%

  1. Measure 2 liters of SLES 25% and pour it slowly into the thickened water-Kulu 10 mixture.
  2. Stir continuously to incorporate the SLES evenly.
  3. Observation: The mixture will become foamy, and the viscosity may slightly increase. Ensure there are no unmixed patches of SLES.
  4. Stir for another 10 minutes until the solution is uniform.

Step 4: Add L31

  1. Measure 2 liters of L31 and add it slowly to the mixture.
  2. Stir gently but thoroughly to integrate the L31 into the solution.
  3. Observation: The mixture should become smoother and more homogenous. You may notice a slight increase in viscosity. Ensure no separation of L31 occurs.
  4. Stir for about 5–10 minutes until fully blended.

Final Checks:

  1. Consistency: The Handy Andy solution should have a uniform, smooth texture without lumps or separation.
  2. Appearance: It should be slightly viscous but still pourable.
  3. Fragrance (if applicable): If fragrance is part of your formulation, this is the step where it can be added. Stir gently to blend it evenly.

Storage Instructions:

  1. Transfer the finished product into clean, labeled containers (e.g., 1-liter bottles or a 20-liter bucket with a lid).
  2. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.

Tips:

  • If the product is too thick, gradually add small amounts of water (50–100 ml at a time) while stirring until the desired consistency is reached.
  • If the mixture appears too runny, check your measurements for Kulu 10 or stir for a longer period to activate the thickening agent fully.
  • Always wear protective gear while handling chemicals to ensure safety.

By following these steps, you will produce a high-quality 20-liter batch of Handy Andy.
